Internet poker has become world celebrated lately, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game events. The games popularity, though, stretches back in fact a bit further than its television scores. Over the years numerous variants on the original poker game have been created, including some games that are not really poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of the above-mentioned games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely related to 21 than traditional poker, in that the players bet against the casino rather than the other players. The succeeding hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is no concealment or other types of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up prior to the croupier saying "No further bets." At that point, both you and the bank and of course all of the other players receive 5 cards. Once you have looked at your hand and the dealer’s first card, you must either make a call bet or surrender. The call wager’s value is akin to your beginning bet, which means that the stakes will have doubled. Surrendering means that your wager goes immediately to the house. After the wager is the showdown. If the dealer doesn’t have ace/king or greater, your wager is returned, with an amount on par with the ante. If the dealer does have ace/king or greater, you win if your hand defeats the bank’s hand. The dealer pays chips equal to your bet and set expectations on your call bet. These expectations are:
- Even for a pair or high card
- 2-1 for two pairs
- three to one for 3 of a kind
- 4-1 for a straight
- 5-1 for a flush
- seven to one for a full house
- 20-1 for a four of a kind
- 50-1 for a straight flush
- one hundred to one for a royal flush
