Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor in the world by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from other people annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match.
